Welcome to the web page of Ukrainian Society at the University of Bern!

The Ukrainian Society at the University of Bern (UA-UniBe) was established in February 2022. It was founded to provide a platform for communication and mutual support among Ukrainian students and scholars affiliated with the University of Bern (UniBe) and the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH). The society also serves as a space for meeting and collaborating with friends and supporters of Ukraine.

Events

International vyshyvanka day

Vyshyvanka Day is celebrated every third Thursday of May - this year it's the 15th of May. It is an international holiday that aims to preserve the original folk traditions of creating and wearing ethnic embroidered Ukrainian clothes called vyshyvanka.
The holiday is not tied to any state, ethnicity, or religion. Join the flashmob, wear a vyshyvanka!

Ukrainian language course

This course is aimed at students who are interested in learning the Ukrainian language from scratch. The programme includes practical conversations, interactive exercises and insights into the rich culture, history and traditions of Ukraine.
The course is available in the Fall semester 2025.
